Installation at Richard Atkins Primary School
During the school summer break, RP completed an AV installation at the Richard Atkins Primary School in London. They required their brand new multi-purpose hall to have a versatile installation, comprising audio, video & infrastructure for lighting.
The hall will have a multitude of uses, both by the school and the local community. During school hours it will be used as an extended learning space and as a lunch room for the pupils, outside of these times the school and local community will use the space for music and drama events, whilst also being available to hire for parties, weddings and other occasions. These diverse uses required a simple-to-use installation, taking into account use by non-trained persons, whilst also offering the project a long-lasting value for money solution.
The audio system comprised two KX12 speakers from Kv2, with a DBX Driverack system processor to protect the system when it is hired-out, along with wheeled FOH rack with Yamaha MG166 mixer, Tasacm CD/MP3 player & effects unit. The sound installation continued into the extended learning space adjacent to the main hall, that will amongst other uses, act as a reception for events. Audio in the extended learning space can be controlled from the main hall or locally in the room itself.
An Infocus 5000 lumen DLP projector was fitted, projecting direct onto the large white wall at the end of the hall, with VGA inputs located at both ends of the hall to enable a variety of control points. For lighting, we installed two 4 way lighting bars and 4 stage sockets & 12 ways of dimming, with the school at this point wanting to hire fixtures to see what will best suit the hall’s uses. All of the equipment is fed from a custom built distribution unit housed in the lockable control rack, ensuring only trained staff can use the system as well as ensuring the safety of the primary school children.
